A Nursing career is one of the widest careers in the healthcare industry. When a student graduates with a degree in nursing from the university, the student has a wide range of options to pursue when it comes to practicing in this exciting field. One such career path that a student can decide to take is adult nursing, whereby the student usually works with old and young adults who may be suffering from different types of health complications and diverse health conditions either chronic or acute.
This career usually entails responsibilities such as caring, counseling, managing the welfare of the elderly as well as teaching the old folks on how to take good care of themselves. Also the adult nurse carries the responsibility of improving the quality of the patients live in that they are supposed to help the elderly patients with duties such as helping them to wash their clothes and in helping them move from one place to another. Also they are supposed to give the patients medicines. This career usually is based in the clinics and hospital wards so that the nurse can provide the patients with twenty four hours supervision.
Another career path in nursing is mental health nursing, whereby the nurse’s work entails looking after people who are suffering from psychological disorders, neurosis and psychosis. Nurses who are specialized in this type of career path usually work hand in hand with GPs, psychiatrists and others in helping those patients who are suffering from mental illnesses. In some cases the nurses usually visit patients in their residential homes but mostly the nurses are usually located in medico-residential centers where most patients with mental illness are admitted. Also nurses in this career can be posted in prisons and other facilities as well.
Also there are the nurses who deal with people with disabilities that range from those suffering from physical conditions as well as those suffering from mental condition. This is usually one of the most difficult career paths as far as the field of nursing is concerned. There are many more career paths that a student can follow when it come to nursing.
